General Purpose Rating (GP Rating)

On successful completion of this Pre-Sea training,the candidates will be able to join as a RATING in Indian & Foreign shipping companies as a Deck Crew or Engine Crew. The G.P. Rating candidate will be able to work in all seamanship activities on-board at Deck side and other work at Engine side. With further Sea-service, they will be promoted as BOSUN, Able-Bodied Seamen / Engine Fitter etc.They can also be promoted to Officer Level with certain Sea service and qualification requirements. After completing this Pre-Sea Training, exams will be conducted by Board of examination for Seafarers & successful candidates are eligible to obtain Continuous Discharge Certificate (INDIAN CDC).There are wide job opportunities for Indian Seamen all over the world.

Eligibility:

Pass in 10th Std, Min 40% marks in English.

Age:

Min. 17 years

Medical and Eye Sight Requirements:

No color blindness, 6/6 vision in each eye. Medical and Eye sight requirements shall be as per the existing standards of D.G Shipping INDIA.

GP Rating Career Progression Chart

After 6 Months (GP Rating Course)-(4 month Residential Course At TMA + 2 month STCW 2010 & Documentation)

Join as either Deck Crew or Engine Crew.
OS - Promoted as AB Seaman, Bosan in Deck Side
(Or) promoted in Engine Side

36 months sea experience & with certain qualification
Eligible to appear for 2nd mate exams

Eligible to get promotion to Second Officer &
with further sea experience & exam
can be promoted to Captain level

III. Indemnity for Personal Safety (to be typed in Rs. 20/- Non-Judicial Stamp Paper duly signed by you and your Parent/Guardian)
IV. Medical Fitness Report by DG Shipping Approved Doctor
V. Passport Size Photographs – 4
VI. Parents/ Guardians Passport size Photograph – 1
